whatnot commission tier calculator

Tiers are sold in percentages. This turns them into dollars: what the next tier saves you, how far away it is, and the most you can spend getting there.

What Tier 1 is worth to you

$37.50

every four weeks you hold it. 7.75% instead of 8.00%, on about $15,000 of sales.

$0.31

Worth a push, if the extra sales make money anyway.

Every sale you make only to reach Tier 1 has to lose less than $37.50 in total, or $0.31 across each of the 120 extra orders. A giveaway, a $1 start that goes cheap or a discount code can cost more than the tier returns.

A tier is a reward for selling more, not a reason to sell cheaper. Two underpriced starts can cost more than Tier 1 saves.

Chase profit. The tier follows.

Each tier is a rate cut on the next four weeks. Worth having, and worth less than most sellers guess.

Sell for profit and the tier comes on its own. Discount to reach it and you pay for your own rebate.

7

tiers in the US, from Standard to $500,000 in four weeks.

How the worth is worked out.

Everything is commission. Processing, shipping and your cost stay the same at every tier.

  1. 01

    The rate cut

Your rate now, minus the next tier's rate for what you sell. For US cards, 8% minus 7.75%.

  2. 02

    Times the sales

At the tier's threshold, because that's roughly what you'd sell to keep it. Selling more only adds a little.

  3. 03

    Over the extra orders

Divide the worth by the orders it takes to close the gap. That's the most each one can lose.

Questions about tiers.

How do whatnot's commission tiers work?
Since September 21, 2026, your sales over four weeks set your commission rate for the next four. In the US, Standard is under $15,000 and pays 8%. Tier 1 starts at $15,000, then $35,000, $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000. Each step lowers the rate, and how far depends on the category.
What does Tier 1 actually save?
For trading cards and sports, a quarter of a point: 7.75% instead of 8%. On $15,000 of sales that's $37.50 over four weeks, about $490 a year if you hold it every period. Fashion and other categories step down faster, so their first tier is worth more.
Should I run cheap starts or extra giveaways to reach the next tier?
Only if the math says so, and it rarely does. The saving comes from a small rate cut on one period's sales. The extra sales it takes can easily lose more than that. The planner above shows the most you can lose on the push and still come out ahead.
Does the processing fee change with my tier?
No. The 2.9% + $0.30 on every checkout stays the same at every tier. Only commission moves. On cheap items the 30 cents is usually the bigger fee.
When does my period start and end?
Periods are four weeks back to back. Most sellers' first one opened on September 21, 2026, so it runs to October 18 and the next opens October 19. Seller Hub shows your exact dates and what counts toward them, and that screen is the one to trust.
I'm a Premier Shop. How does that fit in?
Through October 31, Premier Shops get 10% off whatever rate their tier sets. From November 1, the tier alone sets the rate. The November 1 page works out what that costs you.
