    Commission capped at the first $1,500

    Comics, TCG, sports card singles and toys pay 8% on the first $1,500 of an order and 0% above it. Breaks, rip and ship spots and surprise products are excluded. Sports cards must sit in a Singles subcategory.

    Saves you: A $2,000 card pays $120 commission instead of $160.

    Late or unverified shipments make the refund yours

    whatnot funds refunds for carrier loss after a timely drop-off and for buyer fraud. Ship late, or without a scan, and a lost package refund is billed back to you: the payout, the buyer's shipping and the processing fee.

    Costs you: A refunded $10 sale costs $4.94 even when the item comes back.

    Cancellation fee

    A seller-initiated cancellation costs $3 or 3% of the order total, whichever is higher. The first one is waived. Cancelled orders never appear in the Weekly Orders Report.

    Costs you: Cancelling a $200 order costs $6.

    Carrier re-weigh charges start reaching sellers

    whatnot historically covered USPS re-weighs. It now charges US sellers for some of them, shows an adjustment rate against category peers in Seller Hub, and takes appeals within 45 days. Dimensional adjustments are announced for later in 2026.

    Costs you: Shows up as Shipping Charge rows in the weekly report.

    The same $1,500 commission cap now applies to Bags & Accessories and Jewelry & Watches.

    Saves you: A $3,000 handbag pays $120 commission instead of $240.

    UK fixed fee cut on small orders

    UK orders under £10 pay a £0.15 fixed processing fee instead of £0.25. Commission stays 6.67% plus VAT.

    Saves you: 10p back on every sub-£10 sale.

    Sell More, Earn More tiers

    US sellers with $20,000 or more in trailing four-week sales pay 7%, stepping down to 3% at $1.5 million over nine rungs. Coins and pallets are excluded. Closed early on September 21, 2026, when tiers became the standard for everyone: periods restarted that day and the opening tier came from the previous four weeks' sales rather than from where the test had reached.

    Saves you: 1 to 5 points of commission back. A real report from inside a programme period shows orders still charged at the schedule, so the reduction appears to settle at period end rather than order by order.

    USPS Ground Advantage becomes the default label

    Priority Mail at $9.21 for 1 to 5 lb is replaced by Ground Advantage at $7.75. Under a pound is priced by weight only: $4.47, $4.85, $5.25, $6.75. Over 5 lb starts at $9.69 and varies by zone. Caps set at the old $9.21 default were not updated.

    Saves you: $1.46 less per 1 to 5 lb label, paid by the buyer or by you.

    Flat Rate Box at $12.99, subsidized

    Any weight over 1 lb up to 70 lb ships for $12.99 per shipment in live shows, if the seller turns it on. whatnot pays the difference to the commercial rate, which is over $30 for a large box.

    Saves you: Heavy bundles ship for $12.99 until the subsidy ends.

    Card envelopes at $0.78 to $1.39

    First-Class Mail letters for TCG, sports cards and stickers: 1 oz $0.78, 2 oz $1.09, 3 oz $1.39. Up to 5 cards, orders up to $20, live shows only, and only when the seller enables it. Heavier bundles auto-upgrade to Ground Advantage.

    Saves you: $3.69 less than the cheapest package on a $5 card.

    Commission tiers for every seller

    Total sales over four weeks set the commission for the next four. US Standard, under $15,000, stays 8%; trading card games and sports step down a quarter point per tier to 6.5% at $500,000, fashion to 4.5%, other collectibles to 5%, other categories to 4%, coins from 4% to 3.5%. Processing is unchanged. Existing sellers open on the tier their August 24 to September 20 sales earned, including everyone who was on the Sell More, Earn More test. Rates as low as 3% are custom terms for the highest-volume sellers, not a public tier.

    Saves you: A $15,000-a-month TCG seller keeps $37.50 more per $15,000 sold.

    Premier Shop commission discount ends

    Through October 31 a Premier Shop takes 10% off its tier rate, so 5% becomes 4.5%. From November 1 the tier alone sets the rate; the badge and its other perks stay.

    Costs you: A Premier Shop on 7.5% pays 7.5% instead of 6.75%.

    whatnot says the Flat Rate option stays at a higher, unpublished rate after November 1. Sellers moving heavy items under a shipping cap should re-check the cap before then.

    whatnot has said dimensional re-measures (packages over one cubic foot) will start being charged to sellers later in 2026, alongside the weight re-weighs it already passes on.

Envelopes need the option on before the show, 5 cards or fewer, 3 oz or less, and an order under $20. Over any limit, the label moves to Ground Advantage and the saving is gone.

Is this live demand data?
No. The timeline is whatnot's own published changes, with dates. The map comes from the published fee schedule. Trends you can act on, like which hours sell and who comes back, are in your Weekly Orders Report. The report analyzer reads them in your browser.
Why does category matter so much?
Coins and pallets pay 4% instead of 8%. Cards, comics, toys, bags and jewelry pay 0% on the part of an order above $1,500, when listed in the right category (for sports cards, a Singles subcategory). And the fixed 30 cents hits every checkout, so the cheapest categories carry the highest take.
What is the $1,500 cap exactly?
Since January 14, 2026, commission on eligible categories is 8% of the first $1,500 of an order and 0% above it. whatnot calls it limited time, with no end date. Breaks, rip and ship spots, mystery and surprise products don't qualify. Bags and jewelry joined on June 4, 2026.
What are the commission tiers from September 21, 2026?
Your sales over four weeks now set your commission for the next four. In the US, the Standard tier (under $15,000) stays 8%. Trading card games and sports step down a quarter point per tier to 6.5% at $500,000 or more. Fashion falls to 4.5%, other collectibles to 5%, other categories to 4%, and coins from 4% to 3.5%. Processing doesn't change. Tiers replace the Sell More, Earn More test, which closed early the same day. Those sellers' periods restarted on September 21, with an opening tier from their previous four weeks.
What changed for shipping on July 31, 2026?
Ground Advantage replaced Priority Mail as the default label. One to five pounds is a flat $7.75, down from $9.21. Under a pound is priced by weight: $4.47, $4.85, $5.25 and $6.75. Card envelopes cost $0.78 to $1.39. A Flat Rate Box ships anything over a pound for $12.99 until November 1. Caps set at the old $9.21 default stayed where they were.
What is coming on November 1, 2026?
The Flat Rate Box subsidy ends. whatnot says the option stays, at a higher rate it hasn't published. Premier Shop's 10% off commission also ends, so your tier alone sets the rate. If you ship heavy bundles under a cap, check the cap first.
Do carrier re-weighs really cost me now?
Some do. Since April 2026, whatnot charges US sellers for part of USPS weight adjustments on its labels. Seller Hub shows your adjustment rate against category peers, and you can appeal within 45 days. They land as Shipping Charge rows in the Weekly Orders Report. Dimensional adjustments are due later in 2026.
How does the impact calculator work?
It compares this month with the January 2026 rules. The cap saves 8% of each high-value order above $1,500. Labels save $1.46 per one-to-five-pound label you pay for. Envelopes save $3.69 per eligible card order. The cancellation fee is $3 or 3% of the order, whichever is higher.
