70/30
The most common split, to the consignor. 80/20 for high-value singles.

“Here’s $412” starts a conversation. The same $412 with every item, every fee and the split next to it ends one.

Consignors come back to the shop they trust.

Someone who hands you their collection is trusting you with money they can’t see. A clear statement after every show is how they see it.

The sellers who get the second box, and the third, are the ones whose numbers never need explaining.

How the split works.

Worked out per item and added up, so every column foots to the cent and a consignor with a calculator gets the same answer.

fees = commission at your tier
         + 2.9% of (price + tax + shipping) + $0.30
net      = price - fees
share = net x their % (after fees)
= price x their % (of the sale price)

due = sum of shares + adjustments

Adjustments are things like an advance you already paid them, or grading you covered. They change what you hand over, not the split.

Questions about consignment.

What split do consignment sellers on whatnot use?
70/30 and 80/20 to the consignor are the most common, with the higher share for expensive single cards and the lower one for bulk that takes more work to sell. Nothing sets it but the two of you, so write it down before the first show.
Should the split come before or after whatnot's fees?
After, usually. whatnot takes its commission and 2.9% + $0.30 on every sale, and splitting what's left means both of you pay fees in proportion. Splitting the sale price means you pay all the fees from your share, which is fair only if your share is bigger to cover them.
Who pays for shipping?
On most shows the buyer pays shipping, and it isn't income, so it stays out of the split. If you cover labels or run a shipping cap, agree whether that comes off the top before you split. Put it in as an adjustment here.
What about giveaways and items that don't sell?
A consignor's item used as a giveaway earned nothing, so agree up front whether you buy it from them first. Unsold items go back or roll to the next show. Neither belongs on a statement of sales.
What if a buyer gets a refund later?
Take it off the next statement as an adjustment, with the item's name. whatnot claws back the sale from your balance, so the consignor's share of it comes back too.
Are the fees exact?
They're worked out from whatnot's published rates for your category and tier, so they land close. The Show Report has no fee column. Your Weekly Orders Report does, and a fee typed in from it replaces the estimate on that item.
