Questions sellers ask

How much is shipping on whatnot?

Most US orders ship USPS Ground Advantage, priced by weight: $4.47 up to 4 oz, $4.85 to 8 oz, $5.25 to 12 oz, $6.75 under a pound, and a flat $7.75 from 1 to 5 lb. A single card can go in a letter envelope from $0.78. The buyer pays it by default, and the seller's label costs the same amount.

Do I keep any of the shipping the buyer pays?

No. whatnot charges the buyer its USPS rate plus a small operational fee, and uses exactly that to buy your label. Buyer and seller rate tables match. Shipping passes straight through.

Then why does shipping cost me anything when the buyer pays?

Processing is 2.9% of the total order, shipping and tax included, plus 30 cents. On a $7.75 label that's 22 cents from your payout. Small per order, real over a show.

How does whatnot decide what weight to charge?

By the listing's shipping profile, priced at the top of the range. A 4-7 oz profile ships as 7 oz, 1-3 oz as 3 oz. Under 1 lb, price is by weight only. Over 5 lb, the USPS zone matters too.

A buyer won three things. What do they pay?

Smart Bundling puts a buyer's wins from one show on one label. Each new win costs the difference between the bundle price at the new weight and what they've paid. A second 1 lb item on a 2 lb item costs nothing, since 1 lb to 5 lb is a flat $7.75. Cards on the 0-1 oz profile add half an ounce each; comics on 4-7 oz add 2.5 oz.

How does a shipping cap work?

You set the most a buyer pays per show, across all their wins, and cover the rest. A buyer with one light item pays the actual label. whatnot's example: with a $7.75 cap on a $20 label, the buyer pays $7.75 and you pay $12.25. A lighter packed box gets no refund.

What does seller pays all shipping cover?

Domestic labels to the contiguous 48 only. International buyers still pay shipping, and so do buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, the territories and military addresses, at standard USPS commercial rates. Neither option applies to giveaways or marketplace orders outside a show.

When can a card go in the 78 cent envelope?

Trading Card Games, Sports Cards and Stickers, in a live show, with the envelope turned on before the show. Up to 3 oz, 5 cards and $20 of order value. Past any limit it ships Ground Advantage and the buyer pays the difference. Tracking is whatnot-only, and payout starts ten days after the label.

Is the $12.99 Flat Rate Box worth turning on?

For anything heavy or far, yes, until November 1, 2026. It's one price per shipment from over 1 lb to 70 lb, live shows only. whatnot subsidises it; a large box normally costs over $30. After November 1 it stays available at a higher, unpublished rate. If a bundle splits into two boxes under a cap, you pay for the second.

What are the Shipping Charge rows in my weekly report?

Label costs you owe after the sale: adjustments past your five free ones a week, and carrier re-weighs whatnot now passes on to some sellers. They're charged per shipment (which can cover several orders) and land in the week they post. Dimensional re-weighs aren't charged yet.

Who pays shipping on a giveaway?

You do, for the weight you picked, taken when the giveaway runs. The show's shipping setting doesn't apply. Giveaways carry no fees, so the label plus the item is the whole cost.
