Expenses
Supplies, subscriptions, mileage and rent: what counts, where it lands, and how to set a cost to repeat.
Updated · 4 min read
What counts
Anything you spend running the business, apart from the cost of specific stock. Stock cost goes on a lot or an item.
Categories: payroll, rent or warehouse, supplies, packaging, shipping, storage, whatnot fees, boosts and promotion, gas and travel, mileage, equipment, software, subscriptions, and other.
Repeating costs
Rent, software, storage and payroll are easy to forget because they're paid on autopilot. Set one to repeat and it's booked on its day every period.
Enter the cost once, with a frequency
It posts on the day it's due
The Money page includes it from that day.
Change or stop it any time
Stopping a schedule keeps everything it already booked.
For a month much like the last, copy last month's expenses forward and edit the ones that changed.
Mileage and travel
Card shows, post office runs and sourcing trips are real costs and usually deductible. Log them as you go. The tax pack maps them to the return.
