Products and analytics

Four lists, five core numbers, stacking filters, and saved views for the questions you ask every week.

Four lists

Products starts by asking your question. Each has its own list, and the top product is rarely the same:

  • What sells the most units.
  • What brings in the most revenue.
  • What makes the most profit.
  • What returns the most on what it cost.

Sellers who only watch the first list often buy more of something that keeps them busy at a small loss. The fourth list is the one most likely to change what you buy next.

The five numbers

Units
How many sold.
Revenue
What buyers paid for them.
Profit
What's left after fees, shipping and stock cost.
Margin
Profit as a share of revenue: how much of each dollar you kept.
ROI
Profit as a share of cost: how hard your money worked.

Sort and filter on any of them. A high-margin product you can't buy much of may matter less than a low-margin one you can buy endlessly.

Flagged products

Products get a tag when their numbers fit a pattern. “High volume, low profit” is busywork. “Low volume, high profit” is worth sourcing more of. “Losing money” means what it says.

There's also a problem list: selling below cost, barely breaking even, high stock with low sales, sitting too long, and products where half or more of the sales lost money. You set the thresholds for “low ROI” and “too long”.

Analytics over time

Analytics cuts the same figures by period: day, week, month, quarter, year or any range. Each figure is compared with the period before.

Profit comes from sales. Net also counts tips, expenses and boost spend. Net is the truer number. Profit tells you whether the selling itself works.

Filters and saved views

Filters stack on every list: category, show, date range, buyer, lot, margin band, costed or not. The URL updates, so you can bookmark or send a filtered list.

  1. Filter until the list answers your question

  2. Save the view and name it

It's one click away, next month too.

  3. Export it if you need it elsewhere

The CSV has exactly the rows and columns on screen.
